Captain Rob Smith – President

“Rob” began his career in the United States Air Force, where he was an Instructor for electronic equipment.  In the US Coast Guard, Rob was a Division Captain and Certified Examiner in the Civilian department.  As a Licensed Master Captain, he often was the only medical provider onboard or at the docks for immediate response.

Robs training experience has been in many complex areas.  He began his medical career as a respiratory therapist and a trainer teaching Basic and Advanced Cardiac Life Support in 1983.  Since that time, he has been teaching and is a Certified Instructor in CPR/First Aid/AED, Epi-pen, Narcan, Asthma Aerosol Administration, Trauma Bleeding, Oxygen Administration and AVERT (Active Violence Emergency Response Training).

Since the 1980’s his focus has been on critical care, Incident Command Systems, Natural Disaster preparation and response, and providing on site medical care outside of the emergency room.  Educating and training the public has also become a passion of Rob’s.  He has focused his instruction on how to respond to difficult situations by teaching his students more about the causes of these situations, the treatment processes involved, and how to use medical devices and tools to assist in first aid.

Rob has firsthand experience in providing CPR (over 400 times), First Aid, defibrillation, rescue breathing, the administration of epinephrin, emergency transport, and many other emergency response situations.  This experience made him a natural to serve as Facility Specialist and Maintenance and Operations Supervisor for Healdsburg Unified School District, where he also took over the training for safety and security in the district.Rob now serves as the President of CRES Training, Inc, where he delivers skills that everyone can use to save lives, treat injuries, and have tools to fight off an active killer or violent attack if needed.
